ABSTRACT

Perdagangan strim langsung merupakan salah satu kaedah paling berkesan untuk pemasaran dan penjualan dalam talian, Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan (PKP) dan penjarakkan sosial yang dilaksanakan oleh kerajaan Malaysia semasa pandemik Covid-19 telah memberi kesan yang mendalam terhadap kelakuan pembelian pengguna dan cara-cara menjalankan perniagaan. Oleh itu, kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi pembelian impuls dalam perdagangan strim langsung di Malaysia. Rangka kerja Stimulus Organism Response (SOR) digunakan untuk menilai rangsangan (live streamer attractiveness, expertise, scarcity dan promotion) yang memberi impak kepada tindak balas (perceived enjoyment, urge to buy dan arousal) dan seterusnya mempengaruhi kelakuan pembelian impuls strim langsung. Sejumlah 385 soal selidik telah diedarkan semasa pelaksanaan PKP 2.0 pada tahun 2021. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa semua hipotesis adalah signifikan. Perceived enjoyment, arousal and urge to buy dikaitkan dengan pembelian impuls dalam strim langsung. Kajian ini memberikan gambaran yang lebih mendalam tentangpembelian strim langsung di Malaysia dan mengenal pasti pembolehubah utama yang akan mempengaruhi pembelian impuls melalui video strim langsung. Penemuan ini akan membantu perniagaan dan para pemasar untuk merangka strategi pemasaran yang berkesan dan mengisi jurang penyelidikan dalam perdagangan strim langsung.Alternate :Live stream commerce is the most effective method for online marketing and sales. The Malaysian government implementation of movement control order (MCO) and social distancing during the Covid-19 pandemic had a significant impact on consumer purchasing behaviour and ways of conducting business. Hence, this research aims to examine the factors which influence Malaysian consumers' impulse buying in live stream commerce. The Stimulus Organism Response Framework (SOR) is used to assess stimuli (live streamer attractiveness, expertise, scarcity, and promotion) that impact reactions (perceived enjoyment, urge to buy, and arousal) and subsequently influence response behaviour (live stream impulse buying). The total of 385 questionnaires were disseminated during the implementation of MCO 2.0 in 2021. The findings demonstrated that all hypotheses were significant. Perceived enjoyment, arousal, and urge to buy are associated with impulse buying in live stream. This study provides a deeper insight and identifies the key variables that influence live stream impulse buying in Malaysia. The findings would help businesses and marketers to formulate effective marketing strategies and to fill research gaps relating to live stream commerce.

ABSTRACT

Background Mounting evidence shows association between COVID-19 and new diagnoses of diabetes. It is unclear, however, if COVID-19 increases detection of pre-existing diabetes or if it can induce new-onset of the disease. Methods We established a global online registry of COVID-19-related diabetes (CoviDIAB) using a web-enabled data capture system (Dendrite Clinical Systems). In this study we aimed to investigate whether COVID-19 can induce new-onset diabetes, its subtypes and clinical manifestations. To this end, we analyzed clinical and laboratory data from cases of newly-diagnosed diabetes occurring during or within four weeks from an episode of COVID-19. To exclude pre-existing hyperglycaemia, new-onset diabetes was defined as: blood sugar levels above diabetes thresholds (fasting glycaemia ≥ 126 mg/dL or non-fasting glycemia > 200 mg/dL), no prior history of the disease or use of glucose-lowering medications, and HbA1c < 6·5% at presentation. Results Between October 2020 and April 2022, 67 contributors from 61 hospitals in 25 countries entered data on 537 eligible cases of newly-diagnosed diabetes. New-onset diabetes was identified in 102 of 473 newly-diagnosed cases with recorded HbA1c (22%). Among adults, diabetes subtypes were type 2 (59%) and “not-yet known” (41%). There were two cases of new-onset type 1 diabetes among children. Hyperglycaemia persisted beyond resolution of the infection in 39 of 89 (45%) patients with new-onset diabetes who survived the episode of COVID-19. Further follow-up data beyond 3-months was available for 28 such cases, showing remission of diabetes in five and persistent diabetes in 23 cases (82%). Conclusions This study shows clinical plausibility for a diabetogenic effect of COVID-19, supporting screening for diabetes in people who contract the infection. Further investigation is warranted to confirm mechanisms of viral interference with glucose metabolism. The CoviDIAB registry is accessible online at http://covidiab.e-dendrite.com.

ABSTRACT

Classification of viral strains is essential in monitoring and managing the COVID-19 pandemic, but patient privacy and data security concerns often limit the extent of the open sharing of full viral genome sequencing data. We propose a framework called CoVnita, that supports private training of a classification model and secure inference with the same model. Using genomic sequences from eight common SARS-CoV-2 strains, we simulated scenarios where the data was distributed across multiple data providers. Our framework produces a private federated model, over 8 parties, with a classification AUROC of 0.99, given a privacy budget of ε=1. The roundtrip time, from encryption to decryption, took a total of 0.298 seconds, with an amortized time of 74.5 microseconds per sample.

ABSTRACT

In recent years, Malaysia has faced environmental challenges caused by municipal solid waste, especially household waste, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Among all the household waste, plastic and paper are the most unmanaged waste that cause environmental issues. Several recycling associations in Malaysia have carried out their practices for better waste sustainability and management to curb the increasing amount of household waste. However, the effectiveness is still vague in achieving smart and effective household waste management. Therefore, this paper aims to investigate Malaysia's household waste management, mainly in three significant municipalities in Malaysia, namely Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and Melaka, in becoming a resilient and sustainable city by addressing two main research questions: (1) What are the key factors for ensuring the more successful moves for future household waste management in cities? and (2) How do each of the three municipalities of Malaysia cities address their waste issues based on the key factors from RQ1? This paper reviewed 13 waste management articles and explores the potential of the four factors of waste management from the perspective of technology and data, economy, social, and governance. The discussed factors and models contributed to an integrated future-proofing framework that focuses on smart waste tracking, a gamified awareness education, and strict policies to control waste management are the way forward for the future of smart cities household waste management.

ABSTRACT

Background: The onset of various kidney diseases have been reported after COVID-19 vaccination. However, detailed clinical and pathological examination of kidney injury in patients receiving inactivated vaccines are lacking.Methods: We screened and analyzed patients with newly diagnosed kidney diseases after inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccination in Peking University First Hospital from January 2021 to August 2021. We obtained samples of blood, urine, and renal biopsy tissues. Clinical and laboratory information, as well as light microscopy, immunostaining and ultrastructural observation were described. The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) Spike protein and Nucleoprotein were stained using immune-fluorescence technique in the kidney biopsy samples. SARS-CoV-2 specific antibodies were tested using magnetic particle chemiluminescence immunoassay.Findings: The study group included 17 patients, including immune complex mediated kidney diseases (IgA nephropathy, membranous nephropathy and lupus nephritis), podocytopathy (minimal change disease and focal segmental glomerulosclerosis) and others (antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis, anti-GBM nephritis, acute tubulointerstitial nephritis, and thrombotic microangiopathy). Seven patients (41.18%) developed renal disease after the first dose and 10 (58.82%) after the second dose. We found no definitive evidence of SARS-CoV-2 Spike protein or Nucleoprotein deposition in the kidney biopsy samples. Serological markers implicated abnormal immune responses in predisposed individuals. Treatment and follow-up (median = 86 days) showed that biopsy diagnosis informed treatment and prognosis in all patients.Interpretation: We observed various kidney diseases following inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccine administration. Our findings provide an evidence against direct vaccine protein deposition as the major pathomechanism, but implicate abnormal immune responses in predisposed individuals.
